Perfect Pitch Reviews

I recently received an email asking how to use theory creatively. I let him in on the secret of all great musicians.

This secret is the key to every great solo or musical idea you'll ever play. And without it, you're destined to sound mechanical and uninspired.

You see, it's not what you know that's important. It's what you do with what you know. Einstein said it best:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

You simply play what you feel. If you can hear the sound of any scale or pattern, then your ear is primed to follow your imagination. If your ear is not up to speed, then ear training will get you to that level. But the truth of the matter is, your ear hears better than you think it does! It's a simple letting go process that enables you to fearlessly play from your heart.

Playing from your heart is a very vulnerable process and requires courage. And courage is simply jumping into the unknown. The more you do it, the easier it gets.

Before you begin playing (not practicing, but playing), tell yourself, "I play from the heart." Then notice what feelings come up and jump in!
