The Tangerine Technique

The Tangerine Technique

Are you ready to instantly create the relaxed, alert state of body and mind you desire for playing?

This technique will:

  • Increase physical coordination
  • Improve memory
  • Instantly find "the zone"
  • Increase mental focus
  • Discover the ideal creative state
  • And more!

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Hold an imaginary tangerine in your hand and really experience it. Smell it, see the color, feel the weight and texture. Toss the tangerine back and forth between your hands.

2. Now catch the tangerine in your dominant hand and bring it to the top back part of your head. Touch that area gently and imagine feeling the tangerine resting there while you bring your arm down and relax your shoulders. This is a magic tangerine and will stay in place :)

3. Close your eyes and let the tangerine balance where you left it. Notice what happens to your physical and mental state as you do this. You will feel relaxed and alert. With your eyes still closed, imagine your field of vision opening up.

4. Maintain the relaxed feeling of alertness as you open your eyes and begin playing.

Playing with this technique lets you find the ideal flow state. Soon finding this peak performance state will become automatic. You can also experiment substituting the tangerine for a wizard's cap. Be creative and enjoy!
